Passage
Project type
3D Modelling
One of the most significant outcomes of the digital modelling stage was Passage, created by me in SketchUp and Revit, and rendered atmospherically in Lumion. This environment took the form of an elongated arched corridor, flanked by illuminated niches labelled Creativity, Finances and Career, each symbolising the societal expectations that structure our movement through life. The most striking feature was its floor: a plane of water with a red reflective surface. This water destabilised the viewer’s imagined footing, making every step precarious, as if one could slip or sink at any moment. Its mirrored red glow amplified the sense of unease, simultaneously beautiful and threatening, evoking associations with blood, urgency, and psychological depth. At the end of the corridor stood an ambiguous dark cave, an uncertain destination that could be read as either an opening of possibility or a void of nothingness. The outcome of this work was to stage the fear of progression and choice: the anxiety that arises when every forward movement is weighed down by responsibility, risk, and the unknown. The reflective water became a metaphor for this fragile journey: it showed the viewer a distorted image of themselves while simultaneously denying secure footing, embodying the tension between self-awareness and instability. Passage therefore functioned as a psychological landscape of transition, where uncertainty, social pressure, and fear of the future were made tangible through spatial design and material atmosphere.
